Blogging links

A while ago I decided that if I think a web page is interesting enough to link to, I should use more than 140 characters to explain why. This means that I publish links here, on my blog, instead of using Twitter. Most of the time I like this idea. It gives me more time to reflect, and it offers the possibility to add some other links, and to place the link in context.

I still use twitter to link, but I now only link to my own site. Sometimes that’s weird. It could mean that fewer people read the article I want to link to. They now have to click a link on Twitter, find my post interesting enough, and feel the urge to click on the link it was all about. Which isn’t what I intended, of course.

But then I realised that Twitter doesn’t matter. It’s about writing about the stuff I want to write about. Twitter is not for writing, that’s what blogs are for. An added bonus is that I can link directly to the pages I want to link to, instead of having to use Twitter’s ridiculous t.co ”service”.
